Has that ever happened to you getting lost on a road trip? For me, it has been three times, in Dallas (USA), Luxembourg (Europe), and Todos Santos (Mexico). All three places are very different, but these trips had one thing in common, will get to that later.
Luxembourg one of Europe’s smallest countries and is one of the world’s richest, it has castles, its green and this tiny country has proud and unique traditions and is hospitable and hearty. Cuisine in Luxembourg is very personal and its traditions are primarily borrowed from Germany, France and Belgium; however, this country has established its very own traditions like its Bouneschlupp Soup, Sea Fish, and its pastries. Oh yes, we got lost, well my friend who was driving got lost (men do not like to get lost in a car) we were driving from Germany into Luxembourg but something happened and we were in France and then back in Germany and then Luxembourg and then repeat, it was a surreal experience. But we got to see another part of France, Metz, and we were in Mettlach, Germany. I did not have many photos of Luxembourg, but years later we went again and I got to really experience it…
(2nd trip the begenning)
(first trip some years ago)
So now back to my question at the beginning what did all this trips had in common . . . it was so much fun! Who knew getting lost was so fun. Maybe not so much to the people driving, but not for me, got to see so many things that were not intended, saw other side of my friends and family, had fun in the process, and great photographs too.
I have learned that through the years, to have fun, even if you get lost. It does not apply only on trips, but in life. Sometimes we take the wrong road and things do not go as plan, but the outcome was much better. We must see life with a different perspective and have fun in the process.

Like the blogpost. Looking for Frida Kahlo, and it made me come to your page.
Thank you Sofia, Frida Kahlo was an amazing painter, glad you like this post.
Salma Hayek was amazing in her role…
She was I love her in that movie some may not agree but I did like the way she acted…besitos Melanie!
I have visited Luxembourg some years ago. I don’t remember the river, but the Church a nd the Castle yes.
Funny I am reading your blog right now ( I always read your blog when I have time to really appreciate your work). Luxembourg has many rivers they are mainly connected through the Moselle River, you are so lucky you live close to everything.
Wonderful pix of our “old Europe”…
Will you come again some day?… Quiero mucho los macarones=les macarons!
Several years ago, we got lost in Germany, by 8pm, when the GPS did not exist and all the signs were in German!
We drove for about 1h in the wrong direction! Once in Hokkaido, Japan, but people were sooo kind and helpful, they even invited us for lunch!
con amistad y abrazos…
Thank you Melanie, I do want to go again there are so many place I miss and was so close, I will go to France and visit you it would be so neat to see you. Yo tambien (me too) macarons Ios amo (I love them) you live in the place where they make the best macarons on earth! Hi Doris, interesting article with a good attitude. Beautiful photos of Luxembourg. Thanks for sharing them.
I am glad you like it; I think as we get older we see things differently life should be that simple. Thanks for passing by and commenting Rich good day cannot wait for the next book.
Thank you Doris. I’ve never scene Luxembourg and was pleasantly surprised.
I’m editing the sequel
[...] Luxembourg: we are lost [...]
This looks like a gorgeous place to visit!
It was it is small but very beautiful, thanks for commenting hope you have a great day!
Hi Doris,
Your photos are brilliantly. My sincere congratulations. I love the way you captured the reflections of the water and the buildings. The first one took my breath away. As did the second. And the third…
Aw thank you, I think is the place, my favorite photos are the ones with water too and the castle, thank you for your lovely comment good day hope you are doing better
.
Thanks Doris. I went back to work today.
OMG, Doris, you are the first person I “know” who has also gone to Luxembourg! We went ages ago, when we lived in Zurich when I was a teen-ager. I’m pretty sure we went to a Schloss Lichtenstein? Does that sound familiar? And yes, what a small country! Just like the hem between France and Germany, if those two countries were trouser legs. (hmmm…weird metaphor…)
What a spectacular pictorial you’ve pieced together here–just marvelous quality photos, too, besides great subject matter. The water reflections are to die for, and I’m digging those funky malomars…That’s it. I am all kinds of jelly-ose!! Wanna go back! But thanks for the virtual reminder of that great “kleine Paradies”
You know what I do not have friends that have been to Luxembourg, I guess is so tiny and they don’t go, I am glad this post reminded you of your trip. Yes I was at Schloss Lichtenstein, it is beautiful, something you don’t see every day, not here in Texas. Like your metaphor, it’s kind of true. Thanks for liking the photos, yes it’s the place, it’s that beautiful. You know when I want to travel I go to travel blogs, I travel for a second even if is through photography. Thanks for passing by and commenting Charron, have a great day!
Stunning pictures. Now you have me daydreaming about my next getaway.
Thanks Iris, is the place was so beautiful, hope you travel soon.

What you were saying t’s really true: ”I have learned that through the years, to have fun, even if you get lost. It does not apply only on trips, but in life. Sometimes we take the wrong road and things do not go as plan, but the outcome was much better. We must see life with a different perspective and have fun in the process.” Congratulations!
Thanks I am glad you like that part, it is true life is that simple.
Indeed… thanks for sharing!
Never heard of the Luxemborg beauty. But any lore there might exist would not really capture its colors as being showed here.
Awsome job !!
Beautiful Luxemborg
Love this!
Thanks you!
Call Rough Guide or Eye Witness. You’d get a job any day of the week. Your post makes me want to go there immediately.
Thanks David, I would love to have a job that would let me travel and get paid for what I see. It is a small place but beautiful, its truly the old world where you find castles and structures with lots of detail.
So true! Sometimes getting lost is the way to find yourself and your purpose. You’re not really lost, You are still caught up in the cycles of life!
exactly…life is about cycles and learning, thank you for passing by and commenting
